Title Research: Art of the Title
Once we've wrapped up our genre research and concluded that our chosen genre was action, we now have to research the aspects of this genre. One of the first aspects of movie that appear before the film itself are the titles. Usually the titles in the beginning of the film are used to provide a complete showing of the production crew and cast. With this being said, we were assigned to visit the "Art of the Title" website to do some research on the titles of films. Since our genre is action, we will only be watching and paying attention to the titles of action films. When watching the beginning of the movies, we will fully direct the different aspects of the titles : placement, font, etc. While watching the beginning of these movies we will take notes on each of those things. This will help us when making or inserting titles into our film because we will know the commonalties of the action genre titles. On top of looking at the titles themself, we also were assigned to research the surrounding aspects of the title as well. For example, we were assigned to count how many titles there are. On top of that we also have to look at the prioritized images in the opening sequence. We have to notice technical codes and symbolic codes and how they are reinforced from the outset. "Art of the Title" provides a diverse range of genres to research. While on this website, we will look for action films to watch. We will watch a set of action films and determine the commonalities and differences. Once the research has been done we can discuss the aspect we do and don't like. Once we have discussed the aspects, we can now pick and choose what aspects we will use for our titles and opening sequence.
